A webbing cutting machine prepares consistent strap lengths for sewing and assembly. For pet leashes, bags and outdoor products, choosing the right process starts with the webbing material, finished dimensions and required edge finish.

Start with the finished strap

Pet leashes, bag handles, backpack straps and belts need repeatable lengths and ends that are practical to fold, stitch or thread through hardware. Manual measuring and cutting can introduce length variation, angled ends and loose fibres, especially when operators switch between sizes.

For a pet leash webbing cutting machine or a bag strap cutting machine, define the cut length before folding and sewing. Include assembly allowances in the specification, then check sample pieces against the finished design.

Hot knife or cold cutting?

A hot knife webbing cutter uses heat to cut and seal suitable thermoplastic webbing, such as nylon or polyester, helping reduce fraying. Cotton does not melt-seal in the same way. Blended or coated webbing needs a trial to establish whether heat is appropriate.

Cold cutting suits jobs where a heat-sealed edge is not required or heat affects the material. Any necessary edge finishing remains a separate step. Check trial cuts for loose fibres, discolouration, hard edges and suitability for sewing.

What to check before choosing a machine

Compare a webbing tape cutting machine against your actual production requirements:

  • Material: fibre composition, coating, width and thickness.
  • Dimensions: minimum, usual and maximum cut lengths, with the permitted tolerance.
  • Edge finish: sealed or unsealed ends and acceptable appearance.
  • Feeding: guide alignment and smooth roll release without pulling the webbing out of shape.
  • Batch needs: quantity per size, changeover frequency and target output at your usual cut length.

Check several pieces after each setup change before running the batch. Confirm working accuracy and output using your own material.

HESPER webbing cut-to-length solution

The HESPER Webbing & Hook-and-Loop Tape Hot & Cold Cutting Machine combines automatic feeding, adjustable cut length and material guides with hot or cold cutting. PLC controls offer Chinese and English operation, and material-out detection stops the machine and triggers an alarm.

Send HESPER your webbing cutting requirements. Tell us whether you make pet leashes, bag straps, belts or outdoor straps, and include a material sample, dimensions, edge requirements and batch quantity so we can review the suitable setup.
